new JVC stereo question

Since the Alpine unit the PO put in was failing in a big way - dial no longer worked to set time, change volume, etc, 50/50 on cd's, fm reception going south, I decided to put in a new radio. I picked up the new JVC with HD radio built in, even though I usually go with Pioneer radios. It's the JVC KD-HDR30, and I also got the ipod adaptor. I got it installed last night, and it seems to work well, but my analog FM reception isn't much better. I'm wondering if it's my location - driving from Hastings down toward Treasure Island casino (work is near there), but my wife's 06 Mazdaspeed 6 has no problem with KQRS, and even our old 91 Saab 900 with a 6 year old Pioneer had fairly good reception.

So I'm wondering if it's location, reception ability of the radio, something wrong with the antenna, or if the station's reduced output in the analog portion due to having HD radio also.

Thoughts?

I'm going to drive the Saab tomorrow to verify that it still picks it up.

Thanks,
Mike

I have ran JVC head units for years and had no problem. You might check your antanee to see that it is plugged in fully in the back of the head unit and to see that it is fully connected where the joint is before it goes through the body at the kick panel.
