Wheel backspacing with 4.5" lift

Im looking a cragar soft 8s to go with my 32 swampers

They would be 16x8 with 5" backspacing

will these rub??

whats the ideal backspacing??

I would say yes
ideal would be 3.75 to 4 inches

i have 3.75 with 33's no problem a little trimming.

When I first lifted, I ran 32x11.5's on stock 15x7 wheels with 5.25" backspacing, and barely cleared. I would rub the LCA at full lock and had about .5" between the tire and leaf spring.

Later I ran 32x11.5's with 4.5" of backspacing on a 15x8, no rubbing.

I run 35x12.5's on 16x8's with 4.5" of backspacing now and rub my LCA at full lock, but otherwise clear fine.

I run those same wheels with a 285/75 BFG (roughly the same section width as you probably will be running with 32's, 11.5")and it does rub on full lock. I would probably buy a 7/16" spacer. A spacer that small is not going to do any damage either.

nooooooo bad idea.

Just buy the right wheels to begin with, or run proper hubcentric spacer (spidertrax) that bolts on.

thats what I have (spidertrax) but most people would love to take the short/cheap path instead...... SO,
