just wondering what kind of u joints these things run

JP mag says that this thing is better than a hp narrowed 44??

but deosnt explain fully

what I'm wondering is do they use hubs or nit bearings and how many splines the outers are

unit bearings, and iirc, 32 spline stubs with 30 spline inners.

The JK 44's are nice. especially for the $. I'd totally rock them if I didn't have a 14BFF and D60 awaiting me.

Except for the fact that they have a problem cracking tubes, I would get one as well.

No not in person, I have seen pictures, videos, etc etc etc, just drop em on a rock pretty good and it will do it, but then again a 30 would probably do that in the same situation. Your going to have to redo the brackets to bolt it in right? So why not sleeve the sucker or re tube it?

Yes, its an issue. They break right by the passenger side UCA mount. There are a dozen or so threads on it posting around, I've seen pictures of four or five different ones myself. I think a half sleeve welded in properly would probably fix it. There hasn't been many fixes posted becuase chrysler is replacing them under warantee .. but a warantee wont get you off of the trail.

Its not a super common problem, and seems to only happen in early 2007 models, but here is a thread about it:

lol, damn. I had no idea they had that problem. Are they using cast tubes or something? Theres no way I would expect a normal drawn pipe to crack like that.

But I agree with cal. The problem could easily be solved by doing a simple DOM sleeve.

Dont forget also they have a 6" wider WMS to WMS as well to deal with!
