Anybody else seeing a drop in pump prices? We were around $3.25 for regular here about a month ago then prices started coming down. Last night I filled up for $2.97 and the same station was $2.94 by the time I went to work this morning. This station got up to about $3.21 before the drop started then yesterday they were $2.99 in hte morning, $2.97 in the evening, then even lower this morning!

Don't get too excited, you know its just going to go right back up. No drop to report here, been $2.90ish for the crap gas for a long while now. I pay $3.20 for premium.

The sad thing is now a days I think that is really cheap, but I remember a few years ago filling up my cherokee for 76 cents a gallon...

It's down to $2.77ish in the poconos, $2.61 in Allentown at some stations. It will go back up again, labor day is coming and they can't miss that final summer price gouge..

Dont get too used to it. With that tropical storm thats predicted to turn into a hurricane more than likely heading into the gulf by mid week, prices will go right back up again, and probably higher.
The funny thing is, here in Charlotte it's between $2.80-2.90 on average. When I went back home to Greensboro yesterday, I filled up at Costco and paid $2.60. Can't remember the last time $38 got me 14.5 gallons.

Bout 24 or 25.
At high prices the Ford would take $120 to fill up.
Ouch.

I've heard so much about it going to $4/gallon, lately. It doesn't seem impossible, and it seems more likely than I thought before. I'm so screwed if/when I go to Moab over spring break next year...
I really hope gas doesn't get too outrageous next weekend for Labor Day... Not taking a vacation, but I'm planning on driving quite a few miles to pick something up...

Me too. When you guys fill up using a credit card/ gas card does it automatically stop at a set dollar amount. Around here it seems to stop at about $75, and the place I stopped at today stopped at $50. Why? Its really getting annoying having to put my card in again to get that extra 5 gallons.

I've never dealt with that, exactly... But when I use my debt card at certain stations, before the actual amount is approved on my card online, sometimes it actually shows that I was charged more than what the real amount was. It will usually charge me $50 or $75 even, and I have no idea why. It always confuses me when I know I only spent $45 on gas but there's $50-75 less in my checking account for a little while until it's really approved.

Diesel used to be cheaper then regular here. Now it's quite the opposite. Used to always make sense, got better economy, AND your gas was less. Now maybe they are trying to offset the fuel economy by boosting the cost of the diesel fuel. Wouldn't put it past them.

Flying J doesn't do that. I don't know what thier limit is but I have put way over a 100.00 in my truck and it just keeps going and going and going...:bawl:

When I took the motorhome (75 gallon tank) to Moab 2 years ago, a couple times twice wasn't enough, and they wouldn't take the same credit card three times in a row.
And for a while here last year, the diesel was so much more expensive than the gas, I was driving the heep to work even though the MPGs are lower than the van.

All of the Flying J's I've been to are also truckstops, that probably has something to do with it as well.
Anybody else here refuse to use a pre-pay pump unless you have no choice?

Unless I've been driving on E for a while, I'll go elsewhere rather than pre-pay.
One that pissed me off last year on the way to Moab, in eastern Colorado, wasn't marked pre-pay, so presumably was at the cashier's discretion. Sure, like I'm gonna drive off in my red extended cargo van towing the heep on a trailer

Me either, but not every station has pay-at-the-pump.

Those must be the stations I don't go to.
If the sign says "Tiny's" or "Jr.'s" or "Spanky's" I generally don't even pull in.

That is the gas station has set the preauthorize amount to. Around here when diesel hit 2.78/g most of the station raised the authorized amount to 100 because there are more diesel trucks than anything else it seems.

As well as BPs, some Citgo's, part of some Meijer's, and Jewels, Don't know on Thortons, Mobil , Speedway, Marithon, and Phillips 66 stations since I don't go to those much. If they have the pump marked, I'll go to a pump that isn't, if they're all PrePay I don't even shut the truck off. If It's not marked I put the nozzle back and leave. Did the last one once at a Meijer, but before I left, I said F___ this I'm not empty I don't need their fuel!, The guy getting ready to fill his car heard me

Piffle. I'm not considering it a "drop" until I see it get in the neighbourhood of $2.25/gallon. Anything less than a quarter is a "hiccup," anything less than a dollar is a "flutter."
I miss the "good old days," when I could fill up on the change I keep in the ashtray...

Yea gas dropped from 289 to 261 here in texas. Kinda funny cause the walmart is more expensive than the citgo on the corner. And i am wondering if the quality is getting worse too. The girl lives 2.5 hours away and normally i can make it there and back on one trip in my f150 at 75 mph. But i just had to fill up 75 miles from home because i was getting low. And what gets me is the bed was unloaded, no tailgate, and just me and my dog inside. The fastest i ever hit was 70. cruise at 65 mph only got me 15 mpg. Stupid truck.

Put the tailgate back on it it will get better milage. The tailgate greates a bubble of high pressure air that is less restrictve than the floor of the bed.

It was above $4 here in NJ after Katrina hit. Its about 2.60ish here for regular now. Itll go back up again tho. I remember in the beginning of the summer there were a few days where regular actually dipped into the $1 territory. That was short lived tho lol.
