and it's called my XJ. It's almost torture to be a college student and own one. I want all these things but I can't afford them:( I'm only making 5-600 a month part time. At this point I'm willing to drop out and get a 2 year degree instead of 4 so I can make some decent money soon to do mods. I've encountered all these scenarios and more in the last couple of years when it comes to buying for the Jeep...

Should I pay my car insurance? Should I buy that cd? Do I need that milkshake? Should I take her to dinner? I should probably stick with PBR instead of Newcastle...I really need some new cymbals because I'm a pretty damn good drummer. Should I buy those Nine Inch Nails tickets? They can do without a present this year...I wanna by some cool stuff at Bonnaroo...I don't really need to eat dinner today...Should I make the minimum payment this month or get those tow hooks?

Just drop out of school, eat off the dollar menu and buy everything for the XJ. Grow up and be a homeless person with a Jeep.

Hello, My name is Andy and I am a Jeepaholic.

Wow... I found out the hardway not to let my jeep control my descisions at school... Being on academic probation sucks ass, don't waste you future just because of a car that you wont be able to afford to put gas in in 3 years.

I always tell my boys, "The harder you work when your younger, the less you will have to work when you get older". I'm referring to school only when I say that. Better degree=better job(usually).

Build to your budget or do like my son and just drive the XJ stock until you have a degree and a good job. Then you can buy all the Jeep goodies you want. He has 3 more semesters at VT and then his masters and a law degree so his will be stock for a while.

I waited most of my life to be able to afford to play with my Jeeps like i do now, it didn't kill me to be patient.

Stay in school.

We all feel your pain my brother Jeeper. Degrees rock. I have 3 and can always use them for toilet paper if the economy keeps going down the tubes. Study on young man, the best is yet to come.

I'm in the same situation as you...broke college kid who'd love to do more to the Jeep, but funds don't allow. Every now and then if I get some spare cash saved up i'll treat it to a little somethin nice...but that's rare.

Maybe this summer when i'm working more hours and only taking one class I can spend a little more on it.

If you think those are tough questions DONT drop out, the new question will be "Gee, I really want to pay rent but my electric bill is also due and my credit cards are threatening to take me to court for past due amount, my Yugo is on its last leg and I really need a car or Im fired but I dont have the money this month for new brakes, I guess stopping is really over rated anyway. I really wish I could get a better job then McMinimum Wage but when a manager quits they hire someone with a 4YR degree instead of hiring from within"

Your Jeep can wait, it will be there when you are ready and there is plenty of time, dont stop at 4 years, get a masters in something, anything!

My fiancee has a degree in fashion merchandising, she makes 3 times what I make and doesnt even work half as hard! Even when I start my own company her take home will be much better then my profits for a few years! Luckily my sugga momma takes care of me :)

I kept my car bone stock while I was in college, waited until I had a decent job to start doing mods. I would agree with everyone who has posted already, stay in school and get that degree. Also cut out the beer either entirely or limit it severely - I did in college, helped my grades and saved me a lot of money over the course of the degree.

I bought my off-road toy as a graduation present to myself using the monetary gifts I received from family and friends.

I modded cars during college, but it definitely was not the priority, you need to make sure your feces are conglomerated first.

I think I’ve heard the phrase, “90 mods in 90days” along the way somewhere.

Yeah, cuz then you won't have time to worry bout modding the XJ :D and before you know it you'll plenty o money to spend on it after college is done.
Mod within your budget. If you have the money to buy Jeep parts, go for it. If it means not eating/paying bills/buying books/etc wait.

Keeping her "stock" isn't a bad thing when you have your future in your other hand. Go for it all! Don't just settle with whats in front of you.
