what's this hose for?

98 4L cherokee

i was under it changing the oil this afternoon and I see this hose that goes nowhere. i get up and look down from the top and see it laying right next to the steering gear box. it has an odd breather type white cap on one end and headed back toward the firewall then curved down and ended.

seems the end near the firewall was burned by the exhaust manifold... i looked and looked but can't see where it heads to or connects to.

this could have been like this since i bought it a few months ago... i'm not really sure.

its the vent hose for your axle

call me captain obvious.... i'm guessing the front one?

i felt up and all around and didn't see where it went.. I'll check for the spot tomorrow ... thanks

too bad curing a rough idle on these things wasn't as easy as that LOL

mine plugs into the top of the front diff on the back side.

Yep front axle vent. Runs up along the drivers side UCA.

I believe it plugs into the rear of the diff, at the top. You'll see a little hole that the plastic part plugs into.
