94 vs 97 np231

Does anyone know what the difference between an np231 from a 94 and a 97? Looking at them the drain plugs look differenent, but will it bolt right up? What about the speedometer output?

only diff will be the spline count if any diff. spedo gears can be swapped but they should be the same.

Both are from a AW4 with 4.0, so i would assume the splinne count would be the same.

All 91+ transfer cases were 23 spline I think.

You're forgetting one major thing - in '96 the rear output changed to the sealed version. The slipyoke is still there, but the driveshafts are not interchangeable. An SYE will of course resolve those problems.

I The case I found is out of a 94, but it already has a SYE installed. Mine is a 97 with SYE. I think it will bolt right up. Anything I'm missing?
