Good Day,

So Michelle and I ventured off around 2pm on Thursday from Pagosa Springs and had a few last stops to make and finish our “supplies” list. We were able to get everything that we needed at the local Wally World in Durango, grabbed a bite to eat at Stonehouse subs and then we finally were able to start our journey to Moab. We had a few ideas that we wanted to do but basically we were just going and “winging” everything once we got there. We got stopped in a line that probably was 2-3 miles long of cars before we got to Cortez, had no idea what happened but just wanted to get on our journey again, after awhile we were moving and passed the accident scene which looked like a head on collision with a minivan and a car. We didn’t see any people or ambulances but it looked like a dump truck drove right over the front of the car, pretty scary stuff. Oh I forgot to mention that the wind was blowing crazy and the jeep was bouncing all over the road.

We pulled into Moab around 8ish and decided to head up Kane Creek Road as there are some nice camping spots down that way, we ended up driving all the way down to Hunters Canyon Camping Area which was almost 8 miles down the road from town. We got there and all the sites were taken so decided to head back as there were some more that looked available, we ended up camping at the Kane Springs Campground which was costly but turned out in the end to be very nice, it cost us $22 to camp!! In the end it turned out to be the coolest campsite, we camped right at the entrance of Pritchett Canyon which is an awesome and beautiful canyon.

Friday we decided to head up to Canyonlands, this was my first time to actually go to Moab and not work so I had to play to tourist game. Canyonlands was gorgeous at times and others it was the same as the rest of the park, boring. There are some gorgeous views up there but it boggled my mind that they wouldn’t allow dogs on the rock trails, so Marley had to stay in the Jeep as we went and played. .

We left the park and headed up to Gemini Bridges, it was a fun drive and once we got there I got to play on the rocks a little bit. I got to scare Michelle but all in all fun was had and I got to laugh. We then headed back to camp and as I was by myself and the Jeep had to get us home we decided not to risk anything and not go wheeling up Pritchett Canyon. We took a break and had some beers and then took a hike up Pritchett and the terrain was phenomenal.

We then decided to pack up and head out to Goblin Valley State Park, a whole lot of nothing out there! The park was cool and Marley was able to walk around so I was glad she didn’t have to stay in the Jeep. We walked around for a bit and decided to head on out, I wanted to go to Lake Powell and camp on the river/lake so we ended up deciding on Hite. Talk about depressing. The water is so low and the place is deserted, we pulled in and found a spot, set up and walked on the old lake/river bed. Marley was able to run around and chase the birds so she got tired out which was real nice. We were looking for something that was left in the mud/clay but the only life or what was life there and only found one skeletal remain. I remember before I moved to CO how gorgeous and deep Lake Powell was and to see it in this state I was really bummed out. It might get better as more of the snow melt rushes down but I can’t see it happening to where it is what it was.

So we packed up Sunday morning and headed on out, back home to trees, snow and gorgeous mountains.

On our way through Durango we had to stop and get some sushi from Sushitarian and take Marley to the dog

park. So we did about 850miles and over $200, we had a blast and can’t wait to do it again. Maybe not all of it

but going to Moab and explore some more!

What day were you in Goblin Valley?

We camped just north of there for the last four days.

Yesterday we were within 20 miles of the Goblins.

Man, Powell is a poor sight. It's over 100 feet under full pool these days.........:tear:

We were in Goblin Valley on Saturday, around 2pm~ish. Lake Powell is still a beautiful place though, Glen Canyon is starting to reappear in places which is cool as there are many little caverns around LP. I'm hoping to get back out to Moab in the next 3-4 weeks and do some wheeling.

Anyone going out that way soon?
