I own a Renix era cherokee and was wondering if any aftermarket companys carried anything for it. I know there are a few more vacuum lines going into the airbox and I've tried fabbin my own out of 3" aluminum and a cheap clamp on. The only thing I had problems with was getting some sort of "box" to fit under it and loose vacuum lines(high idle). If anyone can point me in the right direction either on the site or company wise I would appreciate it immensly. I still have the factory airbox and long ass breather hose to take in air and after inspection I'm planning on purchasing a "real" intake so I could plug up my vacuum hoses.

rustys works on the renix.

only one vacuum line needs to be capped off and rustys comes with a nipple for the front ccv line.

if you making your own,
just follow what vacuum lines control what and if you need vacuum, just get some vacuum "t" connections and tap into another vacuum line and make a nipple for the ccv line. you can also relocate the IAT sensor from the manifold to the intake so it reads cooler air instead of hot intake manifold air.

its really easy on the renix engine.

For a super cheap (as in, FREE) extra horse or two...

Remove the baffle from the inside of the air box.

On the air box outlet (going to the throttle body), remove the TB tube, then remove the top of the air filter box.

Using a screw driver, pry the baffle (restrictor) from the outlet tube.

Now put the top of the airbox back on and reconnect the tubing.

Enjoy the extra horse or two....(I felt my benefit in the upper RPM band, more so than the lower.....)

I tried busting that sucker out...no luck. I actually used to much force and cracked the tube that sticks out around the baffle. It's alright because I have another one.

Just cut up your box a little. It'll sound similar to a short ram intake and won't be as bad with the engine heat.

I removed the baffle just for the hell of it. I'm not really into getting an open air element unless I could cover it.. I like to go through mud. :)
