What is recommended for a winch fairlead? My new superwinch came with a hawse, but my old roller is still in good condition. I am using 5/16" cable

i prefer hawse. better approach angle. i always end up smashing my roller into rocks to the point that it doesn't roll anymore, anyways

Hawse for everything.
Steel for steel wire rope and aluminum for synthetic rope.

Another vote on both.
