HELP!!

I have a 98XJ with 120,ooo some miles on it. The other day I was driving down the road and my speedo and rpm gauge stoped working and my airbag light came on. I didn't notice a difference in the way it drove until I came to a stop and when I tried to go (gauges still not working) it seemed to take alot for it move foward, I really had to get in the gas for it move, it didn't really sound like it was reving really high but it was diffently not normal, I tried stoping and letting it sit and starting it back up---nothing, tried disconecting the battery, nothing, I really have no idea what it could be any ideas what be very helpfull, thanks

Alternator may be taking a shit on ya...
