i am doing the guage cluster swap for my xj and i want to roll the odometer to what my old one says( real milage). does anyone know the law for this in new jersey or how i can find out?

Why not just roll it to the correct mileage and pretend it always had that cluster?

that is what i said i wanted to do i am just a little paranoid over ways someone could find out. and saudad, there is no reason to be smart, i am just double checking.

That I know of, the correct procedure is to record, on the title, the mileage read on the old odometer and the milage read on the replacement odometer. Then no one can accuse you of tampering with the odometer.

last time I checked they dont take your cluster apart during inspection....how is someone ever going to know?

thats what i wanted to know. i dont really want to go through the dmv and all that and i like to know the exact milage so i guess i will just do it.
