View Full Version : That Tire Store Smell

Anyone else ever just stop in to a tire store every now and then even if they have no imminent plans to buy tires? Something about that smell of freshly molded rubber, the racks upon racks of tires piled high, the display wheels in the front with some big-ole meats mounted to them. Once you get past the annoyance of the pimply-faced kid bum-rushing you asking how he can help you spend your money, the free coffee and popcorn are bennies you can't find many other places. Sometimes I'll just park my arse in the waiting room with a bag of corn, a cup of joe, and read their free paper after perusing the aisles of mudders and inhaling that intoxicating fragrance.
Am I alone here? Should I seek professional assistance? Chime in.

I too, have fallin victom to the heavenly aroma of these synthetic soles we so lovingly call tires.... Although, our local stores have no free popcorn, they do have the latest in half naked females on tires in their free calenders.

I used to frequent tire stores, but this was when the KM2 was coming out and I was just trying to get a look.
But on my way out of costco usually I often times find myself walking through the stacks of tires.

I just go in randomly and try to find out when they will be able to get the new KM2's in my size. They never know and I am patiently waiting! I guess I allready know the answer but I just keep hoping they will be realesed earlier than this fall. I want first dibs!!

Who doesn't like that smell? I had it in the house for some time, and I must say I miss it.

Free popcorn, coffee, papers, tires? Sounds like a Les Schwab. I miss those... none here out east.

I would completely agree with this statement, Discount tire is the only way to go!

Indeed, there is something special about a tire store. The pungent, yet pleasing aroma of fresh tires stacked in their neat rows, the comforting din of pneumatic tools whizzing nearby in the maintenance bays, and the delicate feel of those new tire nipples as you instinctively graze your hand over their tender goodness.
To me, a tire store is as close as you can get to climbing back into the womb.

Bust tires for a living and you rapidly loose any desire to smell them.
I did it for a couple years while in college and am glad to pay some one else to do it now.

I love the smell too. for some reason the inside of my jeep smelled like that too for a while.. it was awesome. I think it was the aromas of the spilled fliuids in the back.

Ummmm..... I'm kinda torn.
Fresh tires is kinda yummy, but burning rubber along with the smell of race fuel is hard to beat.

Yep, Schwab is the best for lounging around snackin' corn and drinkin' coffee. I do agree that Discount shits all over Scwab as far as price and selection, but Schwab has the better waiting lobby.

I supply labor to large warehouses and such. Last summer we took over the Discount Tire warehouse here in CA. 30-50,000 tires received a night. You wanna smell new tire smell. I went home smelling like it. I do kinda miss the smell though. Every once in a while I stop by there just to visit.
