Go to take the garbage out thru the kitchen door 30 min ago, down the side of the house, along the front of the house, around the jeep, about to reach for the lid and wondered why the garbage cans looked funny. Then the XXXXin bear  stood up   , was the 500lb female I've seen around a few times, never that up close and personal though, they smell. Threw the garbage bag at the bear and made it back to the kitchen door chop chop, grabbed the gold cup and spun around and waited. Just got done waiting with the 12ga slug gun for my son and his girlfriend to get home, didn't want them walking into any suprises..

My neighbor was getting ceramic tile installed a few days ago. The workers were coming into the house through the garage. They had both the garage door and the door leading into the house open. We've had a pretty big black bear roaming the neighborhood lately. He went right on into the garage and checked it all out. Lucky he didn't go inside the house. I love watching them.
I arrived in Colorado 2 weeks before my g/f did. The night she got in, we went for a walk. As we roamed the neighborhood, we came across a big one and her cub. Very cool stuff. That kind of stuff NEVER gets old.
I do wish our town was more strict on giving citations for people that leave their trash cans outside. I've seen loads of trash all over yards lately. We also get morons that hang hummingbird feeders in spots where the bears can easily reach. That's just wrong. I love seeing all the bears, elk, mule deer, etc. They can be startling though when it's dark out. Hopefully your heart has calmed down now Rich.

Good thing you have a good ticker Rich. Surprising you didnt hear the comotion.
Was leading a group at Paragon (NACFest) and come around a corner, large Bear was standing on it's hind quarters not 10' away. My closest encounter, we dont have many here in Philly. :)
Have you been to Cabela's yet? They have the 800 pounder that was poached out in White Haven...huge!

I was fishing from my canoe last night on the Cuivre River near Old Monroe, MO and was attacked by a jumping Asian Carp.

I got home early from work today and found this little guy waiting for me:

I'd guess he was about 2 years old. I suspect this is the little guy that was in my neighbors garage a few days ago.
Then he lumbered away.

Seeing the wildlife up here NEVER gets old.

I've yet to see what I'd call a big one yet out here. Even the momma and cub I ran across one evening was pretty small.
