Neutral Safety-switch

Ok, little up-set with the damn switch.
Having problems with the switch, have to wiggle the shifter around in park or neutral. I would like to replace it, but at $250. I don't want to spend that much on a trail rig.
So... is there a way to bypass it, with out having to replace it?

Try removing it and cleaning it first!! The hardest part of this job is cutting the tie wraps on the wiring harness if it's never been removed

Be extra careful trying to get it off the shaft. If you pry on it to hard it will break. Theres one on ebay, new OEM for $139 buy now price or make an offer.
You may want to try Ford & Sons out of NY. http://www.fordandsons.com They got me one at a great price (around $25) thing looked almost brand new. They went out of their way to make sure I got the right part. Nicest salvage yard people I have EVER dealt with.

Here is what I did...

I put a switch in to bypass it if it gives me problems... So far it only fails when it is below 10F. Above 10F and it seems to work fine.


I have used the bypass switch about 10 times in 2 years.
