Donating a CB setup for the Giveway XJ-thoughts?

Who wants to kick in for some stuff on the Giveaway XJ?
I'm talking about pooling $5-$20 donations from those that are interested to buy one or more of the remaining items needed for the build.

I was thinking the IC should be able to come up with the funds for a CB Radio and Antenna setup like these:

Looks like we'd need about $130.00 for a CB that fits into the XJ's limited cabin space and a good roof mount antenna.


Update: I just read the thread on the Member Forum and some members have donated a used CB and Firestick. I'm sure a new set up would be appreciated, or we could come up with money for the shackles, shocks, winch, rope, lighted windshield visor, fake rubber testicles, musical horn, Type R decal................................

They will beat the crap out of all other CB antennas on the market.

Dave just bought one, he would have a better idea on the cost. It's possible that I could get the guy to donate one, he is the type of guy who is always looking for the next good cause.

If not, they aren't super expensive.

why not a solid but affordable cobra? even the 30 dollar unit from walmart i have is kickin' after 2 years and a good firestick and coax will be about a 60 dollar package... thought?

Agreed, however a firestick won't perform like Wilson. I've run both.

We can get them both for $130 from Clays, who I've dealt with before, which is not much if everyone kick some lunch money. If they can be found cheaper.......?

They are junk.

Every Cobra radio I have had has failed at one point or another.

They look close and most CB's...unless you get into the highend stuff all have the same options.

I've had a lot of luck with cobra radios never had one completely die on me but i know people who have. I have a friend who has a cobra 29 that will push out 13 miles but it has had a lot of work done to it
I run Galaxy radios now they seem to be perrty good
if it doesnt need to be new i have a Cobra laying in a cabniet at home that i can throw in I know im not a member but I dont need it

RE 1.5" boomerang shackles are now the target.
