Welcome to the first Chapter meet & greet of the year. We will be having a few of these in different location throughout the year. We encourage as many of you to show up as you can

This meeting will be at Grant's shop on Wed, April 9th starting at 6:00 PM

5584 E. La Palma Ave
Anaheim, 92807

Cross streets: Imperial and La Palma across from the movie theater.

This M&G will be an official meeting for the chapter. We are going to try to get as many folks as possible there.

Your BOD will discuss items listed below:

1. membership drive
2. SoCal Fest
3. AAT work day
4. chapter funds
5. trail ettique/rules - drinking, gear, vehicle equipment, etc...
6. Fall Fling - general announcement stuff
7. Special fund idea - for when members pass or have extreme difficulties and need a little hand.
8. Open Session/Q&A

There will be food and a small raffle to help raise funds to help pay for the food.

As for the M&G that Kyung posted, he and I talked and he is totally OK with this. His place and choice for the next one....

Well.. we'll be there still at 8... and 9... and probably 10 still ;)

One thing that needs to be mentioned: this is a place of business. Please do not come before 6pm in order not to interfere with business operations. If you get there early there's a coffee shop and other points of interest in the area.

Thanks

if it was on a weekend i would be there for sure ;)

i think an official meeting would be better had on a weekend :dunno: might get more people to attend. between work and my kids athletic programs i just dont have time during the week anymore.

i am sad to be missing this, ive never been to a MG where actual discussions of club buisness will be going on. it sounds like it will be a good time.

I got to agree with Grimm on this one !! If its a Official Meet and Greet, a weekend would be better so members can come. To much goes on in the weekday for alot of us, I know i would like to go but just cant do it on a weekday, im sure there are alot of others like myself and Grimm

I understand where you're coming from but sadly enough it's hard to get a schedule that fits everyone and we're also working with facilities. Grant's shop is probably one of the best places that we ever had M&G's at. We have a huge parking lot to hang out, an outside BBQ, we can have raffle and so on.

The flexibility in how the place is setup allows for all to talk to each other, check out rigs, parking is not an issue and so on. Also there are folks that can't make make weekends cause they work weekends. So my apologies to all those who can't make it on weeknight, but we'll have the next one on a weekend (alternating them gives us opportunity to get as many folks covered as possible).

Thanks

ouch that has to sting a little.

It would be nice to have some of the bigger gathering in more convenient places for those who don't live in the oc. Hell even if you rotate it around it would be nice.

Im still willing to drive the distance spend the gas and waste my time in traffic to go since it is a important meeting.

Ouch.. that hurts...... but here's the deal: if you look at the distribution of the folks in SoCal chapter then unfortunately LA, and OC are for the most part centrally located. Xmas party was in Long Beach and couple of the SD folks said that it's too far North. Couple folks from the desert areas mentioned it's too far West. Couple folks from Ventura mentioned it's too far South. So... now when it went South East to get the South and East folks it's too far for some other folks. Folks who can't make weekends are happy but those who can't make weekdays are not happy.

Bottom line is this: I"m sorry that not everyone can make it. I would love to have all be able to come out but then there's Big Bear a month later. Big dinner Sat night, raffle and camp fire and so on: if you can't make it to wheel, show up for that. I know it'll be inconvenient for some, perfect for others. There is no place that will keep everyone happy, no time that will keep everyone happy, no day that will make everyone happy.

I'm going to say this for those who can not say it because of their position.

STOP WHINING and DEAL WITH IT!!!!

It's a f'n NAXJA meeting, not a meeting to end world peace. You can make events that I can't attend and vice-versa.

The BOD are not dumbsh*ts. They consider all of these factors and I'm sure they struggled with this decision.

So, give them a break. They do a lot of stuff "behind the scenes" and like Remi said, they can't please everyone..

I understand the frustration, but NO, the SoCal chpater does not mean OC. There are many M&G's all over the chapter each month, plus work parties, hang-out parties, wheeling, etc....

This particular is just something new we want to bring to you, the members. I believe that the BOD should be heard from throughout the year, not just at election time. The members should care and want to know about things such as budget, membership, ideas, etc...

I did state that we will be rotating this type of meeting around the region. No, we will never please everyone at once and we will not even try.

We do want to offer plenty of opportunity though.

We also said the meeting minutes will be posted so everyone will be able to get a download and post their comments.

This group is an adult group, most of the time, and we should treat this as such.

Please bear with us and trust the BOD. We want to make this the best place for XJ owners and the best chapter within NAXJA. We have the best people, that's a fact!

With that said, I hoep as many folks as possible can make it next week. We do kind of need to get an idea on how many folks for food. Burgers and dogs will probably be the menu.

So finally, to those who can not make this one, we will see you at the next one.

Like Remi said, our BIG BEAR event is coming up very soon. Try to make plans to come for that. Stock to well-built can have fun up there. Some of the JV residents may not be super challenged, but they will still have fun. Heck, the BBQ, Raffle, and campfire are awesome!

Thanks everyone!

Um, I live so far south I can see the next country, but that doesn't mean I think I'm being excluded because of my location. Frankly, Anaheim is pretty close when you consider the total capacity of land that is encompassed by Southern California (particularly if you only separate northern and southern and exclude central california). That's a lot of friggin' mileage and Anaheim aint' THAT far away. So get off yer high horse. The fact that there are more active members in the OC/LA area than the SD area dictates that the meetings should be held in a centralized location.

In case your mommy didn't tell you, life isn't always fair.

EDIT: Oh, hehe, I prolly won't be there either guys...but just in case it comes up, I vote for chapter sponsered beer and tapped kegs at every run!

Thanks everyone for wanting to come out.

We did a bunch of M&G's at the shop a couple of years ago and they were great, but my business got too busy to continue.

Yes, it is a week night and a PITA, but bear with me. I'm working with my commercial landloard for a Sunday show and shine for XJ's late this summer, that could double as a BOD meeting. It takes time to execute a weekend and, frankly, I have very few weekends available if my chick and I aren't jeeping, traveling/hiking (we were out your way this weekend, Rick) or doing family crap; all of which we do a ton of.

Show up. Drive your heep (I'll be in the Chevy). Bring a sixer to put in the tub of ice. I'll have pulled pork sandwiches for y'all and raffling off an Odyssey battery to raise funds for the chapter. I'm sure others will pitch in as well. If you've been to these M&G's, they are pretty damned cool, especially when Kyung does burnies, Rollin's does brake checks and everyone has a great time. Bring the family and kids, it is totally welcomed and encourged. I'll let it run until the wheels fall off, the only thing I ask is you respect my shop and my business hours and show up after 6P and clean up when done.

Rock on.

Some of the products may not be available for immediate pickup if the donaters do not come to the MnG but we will forward along the contact info to the donaters so they can either deliver or ship the items.
