K guys. Less then two weeks.
This will be a run out west of Brigham City to several ghost towns as well as a stop at the Golden Spike NM.
If we have time we can run down to see Bangeters old pumps, to put the water out of the Great Salt Lake into the West Desert.
Meeting time and location will be 9:00AM at the Rest area on I-15 just north of Willard bay.
Make sure you have a very full tank of gas and plenty of food and water for a full day on the trail.

A word of warning. These Ghost towns are more like ghost grave yards.
There isn't much left standing at any of them.

I was wondering the same thing. I figured I'd just break off from the group for a while if needed.

I have to work Sunday, what time could I expect to be back to the Ogden area knowing it's another 45min to Draper. Like to make this trip.

I'm out:tears:
the Honda has issues. Uses a set screw to hold the rotor to the shaft in the distributor (about the dumbest thing honda ever did) The screw has a history of backing out on me. Last time I used locktight. Today the tiny screws head broke off just before I crested Parleys summit with the now locktight applied thread portion in the shaft! Will be spending saturday looking for a good cheap junk yard distributor with shaft that shows smooth spinning, good set screw threads, and no sign of any bad bearings.

I'm out. No reason other than I've been burning the midnight oil for weeks and I want to hang out at home for a Saturday. Might cook that moose roast in the dutch oven too, depending on the weather.

From the Golden Spike Visitor Center. They had the trains inside getting some restoration work done. They did let us inside to take a peek though.

After that we hit the Ghost Town of Kelton and then split up. Several went home, four of us went west. On the old Railroad grade there is a huge cut in the rocks.

We got dive bombed by a golden eagle and found out she had a nest in the rocks.
We climbed up on the opposite side of her nest and looked down. She had two eggs there.

Ironic they post a closed sign to protect natural values...on a man made railroad bed blasted out of the rock.

So did Shane & his boys report back from their gun shooting expedition on Saturday? Just want to make sure that they aren't implicated in Sunday's events out in that area.

Did you ever even take any pictures? I don't remember seeing you take any. But you were really cute talking to your boys about everything. In fact I came home and told my daughters about it, because they're father never would have taken that kind of time to talk to them about the finer details of trains and such.
