Transfer case fluid amount.

I beleive this is my first post, Hi all.
I have a 2000 Cherokee Classic. The owners manual seens quite generic. I drained and refilled the TC with Max Life Dex III/Mer fluid. My question is how much, the owners manual says 2.2 pints, yet as I read here, many say to fill untill it comes out of the upper fill plug. Well with 2.2 pints it does not over flow. Should I add more? Thanks

I would fill it till it comes out of the fill hole. Some say it is fine if you can touch it with your finger in the hole. IMO.

Since I don't have the exact measuring abilities to measure out .2 of a pint, I just pour in what I feel is roughly .2 pint after adding the first 2...I usually go on the high side to so I know it's good and it doesn't overflow. Don't sweat it to bad...it'll be ok.
