I have no idea how the backing plate got bent, however it does not allow for the passenger side rear shoe to line up right it rubs the drum. Does anyone know if the D35 is the same backing plate? I am pretty sure they are both 10" drums? Was hoping this was an option since I know I am not going to find a d44 in the junk yard

New backing plates are available at the dealer - something like $3-5 if I recall correctly

Just got quote from dealer.... $118.36. Any ideas? Dana 35 plate fit?

The diameter of the brakes on a D44 is different than on the D35.

Yeah, they should fit - D44 drums get trashed often enough because someone put the narrower D35 brake shoes in. . .

No No No the d35 narrow shoes also have a shorter anchor pin on the backing plate. The wider D44 shoes will not set correctly.

Wrong - sorry my bad on this one. Try posting in the classifieds here and finding someone that did a disk brake conversion, and has backing plates left over. Or try a different dealer - prices can vary a lot between dealers. . .

Or try NAPA backing plates should not be hard to find, many are the same.
