Rear Driveshaft question

What is the difference between the rear Drive Shaft of a 99 XJ with Dana 35 rear compared to a Drive Shaft from a 99 with a 8.25" rear.
I am interested in the length basically.

I just checked 4wd.com and the only thing they specify is the year... pre 1992 and post 1992, so I would say they are the same length

Or maybe i'm wrong also...???

The Jeep '00 parts list shows #52098 814AB for the 8.25
and #52098 731AC for the D35.
I think they are different, the question is, in what way?

the 8.25 has a longer pinion, so the D/S is shorter...

Here is the whole deal. I replaced the D35 in my 96 with a D44 and used the original D35 DS. It works fine but I decided to give it a little more travel, I thought using a 8.25 DS might be the way to go.
OTOH it only costs $50-75 to shorten the existing shaft.

nope, both the dana 44 and the c-8.25 have the same length pinion yoke.....figures because everything is smaller on the d-35,lol.
What size do you need?Have you searched for the stock driveshaft length chart?

I just found out that the 8.25 and D44 take the same part # shaft.
So, what I'm going to look for is a late model 8.25 rear DS.
