Giveaway XJ Shocks - Fall Fling 08

Hey guys -

The giveaway XJ has had some rockey road on its way to where it is now.

The buid team REALLY needs some shocks, and the Sierra Chapter BOD thinks it would be a great idea for the sierra chapter to come up with the $$$ for them.

Cliff Notes: The giveaway XJ will be a fully built XJ, given away at Fall Fling 2008, Moab Utah in October for the price of a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets were sent out to all members (to sell), and will be available online shortly. No need to be present to win.

The Sierra Chapter has no funding in our account, because we have decided to give it to two worthy causes - Chapter Land Use Donation (http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=932072&highlight=friends+of+fordyce) - Friends of Fordyce and Fresno Four Wheelers.

And we plan to continue to use chapter funds to go directly to keeping our public lands open, so we are asking for people living in the sierra chapter's support on this.

You can either send me a check (PM for address), or you can paypal me (opiebennett AT gmail DOT com).
Ill start out by offering up $50 towards the cause! It looks like we're going to need approximately $400 to get this done, and get these parts on the way.

we raised enough money to purchase a little bit better shocks -

bilstein 7100's for the front, and 5150's for the rear!

It looks like the next big hurdle they're working on is getting a nice winch to hang on the front of the Jeep...

send a PM to cracker on this board - he is more in charge of this, and might be able to give you a better list.


As for the shocks - I ordered them on Saturday before heading down to Hollister, so they ought to be in Led's hands before next weekend.

Hopefully he will snap us a few pictures.

Opie, what about posting up a thread on the build, and what is left\needed?

One suggestion for the winch, a pretty killer deal is the Smittybilt 8000 pound, more than enough for the XJ, and they go brand new with 2 year warranty for $285.

If you can, send a note to Jeddi@rockriders.com, he has them for sale, and is a local vendor (he is in Hayward) that supports our trails and sport, maybe even get better deals on other parts needed for the project.

Opie, I will give him a call and check what he can get at cost for. I have a few black steel wheels, and 5 chrome steels wheles (15X8) I can donate as well, and am tearing down a xj this week,so if any other parts are needed for this XJ, let me know and I will donate what is not already called for.
