Most of our oil doesn't come from the Middle East. ;)

1500 in gas money(Honda price)
10 bucks a week-The gas you spend in a honda.
XJ gets like 14-15 mpg. I got some problems im working out.

So 20 bucks a week.

10 bucks more a week. Will take 170 months to break even. Plus insurance.

12.8 mpg from my DD, which is my '55 Chevy because the XJ is sucking a$$ right now.. And I get 15.6 mpg from my XJ when it's drivable.. :explosion

I would like to ride my motorcycle more, but I really can't since I don't have a normal job with normal hours and a normal place to drive to.. :pirate1:

My $2K Mazda DD gets double the MPG as the Jeep. In the past 13 months, it has more than paid for itself.

Not to mention saving the wear and tear on the Jeep. Maintenance costs are also less. A 195/60/14 tire costs a lot less than a 33" MTR.

And when I added the Mazda to my insurance policy, my rate went DOWN. That's because the Jeep is no longer considered my primary vehicle. Only have liability on the Mazda and full coverage on the Jeep.

What Johnny said, you forgot to factor in the cost of the wear and tear on your Jeep vs the wear tear on the honda. You've just increased the longevity of your Jeep and all the parts on it. You won't have to replace the tires on the Jeep now as much. Unless you've got inchitis, that's another story.

And yeah, older commuter cars are cheap on insurance, and if you don't have another vehicle already, you can usually get a multi-vehicle policty discount. My insurance pretty much broke even.

I guess im thinking about my life. Being 16 it cost me 90 a month for just fixing the other guys car/and if he gets hurt. (if I get hurt im screwed, if I wreck im screwed. Its a stock jeep I got for 400 so Ive already saved 150 by taking a chance (5 months at 30 more for fixing my car IF I wreck it0)

I'm glad I have my Honda. I had it before my Jeep so the car payment doesn't bother me much. Its nice having a/c, 30mpg, and comfort on my daily drive.

that being said I drove the Jeep to work today just because I felt like it :D

Here in the Netherlands one liter gas (95) cost about 1.45 Euro a liter...
1 Gallon = 3.78 liter ?
So 1 gallon = (3.78 * € 1.45) = € 5.48 (Euro)
€ 5.48 = $ 8.35

So 1 Gallon gas = $8.35

You guys have a long way to go :)

I'm also tired of $15 a day for gas. I've removed my Conn Ferr rack and have gained about 2 mpg on the last five tanks over the last couple of weeks.

I'm buying a commuter skooter this week and will park my XJ for weekend fun. I'm going to miss driving my Cherokee every day. I guess that means I'll have more to look forward to on the weekends.

I guess I'm lucky to have such a short commute. With my stock gearing I'm averaging about $.26 per mile, or 13.5 MPG, hope to bump that up a little when I regear. My daily commute is about 15 minutes one way, 20 with traffic, so it would take me quite a long time to pay for a cheap gas sipper. So for me to justify a second fuel efficient car, it would have to have some unique or "cool" feature, ie, a motorcycle, '60's VW, etc.

I live in Santa Clarita and work in downtown LA - about 30 miles each way.

My heep gets about 12-13 mpg. BUT:

I only go inot the office two days a week AND I take the train!

My Jeep commute is 4.8 miles each way to the train station AND my employer pays for my train pass AND my milage is paid back to myself in pre-tax dollars at 48.5 cents a mile. So I ain't doing too bad... ;-)

My '55 is NOT going anywhere.. Thats going in my "will" and the keys will have to be pried out of hands when I die.. It was my first car and I bought it back in 1991.. (Step away from the Tri-Five) :twak:

You are going to all hate me but my gas does not cost me anything. My commute is about an 70' walk from one end of the house to the other. And when I do need to drive somewhere my company pays for that bill.

Oh, my DD is a 06HD lifted with stock gears and larger than stock tires. I get somewhere between 14.5 and 15 MPG on the hwy.

I so sympathize with everyone cause when I was in construction and gas prices were 1.20 or less I bitched then.

For those if you with bikes, be safe. Your life is not worth a few bucks on a gallon of gas just to get economy.

Ha. Remember the 1979 gas crisis? When you were only allowed to buy gas on odd or even days, depending on your license plate. Locking gas caps were a huge item back then.

I remember waking up at 5 am to get in line at the gas station on odd-numbered days.

LOL...... :roflmao:

I'm watching the video and at 18min 43seconds, he says something about the pre-ignition cat "conditioning" the fuel, therefore, you do not have to change your oil, and by not changing your oil so frequently, it should increase the life of your engine.. :gee:

Earlier in the video, he says that there are no laws prohibiting changing or upgrading a cat, therefore, it's perfectly legal..

Man! I remember that! I was working at a pizza place that did mostly delivery business. We gave free pizza to a nearby gas station so that anyone in a "work uniform t-shirt" from our store could by gas on any day!

Other than that, you had to go through a lengthy process to get a special windshield sticker that indicated you were a "business driver" and could get gas anytime.

I also remember the "swift justice" metered to anyone who tried to cut in line when the lines were sometimes a couple of blocks long!

Ha. I really dated myself, didn't I? Well, Bill knows what I'm talking about. Luckily, at the time, I was driving a Vega and going to school. So I didn't need much gas.

But I remember people would switch license plates between their own cars, so they could buy gas on the off-days.

Besides locking gas caps, there was a run on plastic/rubber tubing. :)

I believe we get most of our oil from Canada. Or somewhere in Europe but then again maybe I'm just makin that up. If we could drill in Alaska or off the shores of our own country then maybe gas would be reasonable! Between buyin so much oil from other countries and taxin the crap out of it once it gets here we could prolly have gas back around $1.50/gal if we did somethin about it. UGH... friggin tree huggers... to be honest with ya, I don't mind killin a couple ducks or dolphins in order for me to pay less than $400 a month in gas!

2@55 gal. race fuel, about $8 a gallon now.

RV with 80 gallons

2@ 55 gal. fuel as strategic reserve

1 30 gallon multi use drum

two F-250's that are normally full

two Jeeps , also kept at about 50% full.

Wife's car as well as some other gas powered equipment...

I wonder what the police would do about a 'grand theft fuel' case..
