View Full Version : Another year gone and I am procrastinating safety and inspections

It happens every year. I don't know why I don't learn. Here it is... February again... and this year I even got an extra day to do it... but yet tomorrow my registration expires because I have been too busy/lazy to go get my Jeep inspected.

I think I do this because I'm always afraid that they aren't going to let me pass because either a) they don't like that my fender flares don't cover my tires all the way, b) I may have forgotten to reconnect my front sway bar before going in c) my e-brake is only somewhat functional.

It's always an adventure. I personally don't like anyone else even touching my Jeep, even less if someone is telling me there is something wrong with my Jeep when I already know it. I suppose I could do something about each one of those things to make it pass much easier, and who knows... if I did that, maybe I wouldn't dread the month of February every year.

I'm on my last temp registration extension. Working on my daughter's XJ, I think I'm done after I get a battery today. Really, I keep finding other things to fix so they won't be an issue. Last night I fixed the AW4 NSS because the reverse lights weren't working. Next Friday is drop dead date.

The answer is simple. Make friends with an inspection shop.

Thanks! You just reminded me that mine expired. I guess I'll run it over to my brother and get a certificate.

Crap. I passed emissions no problem but failed the safety. They are literally going to make me take off my tires and put on my stock wheels and tires and come back just so that they can pass it. That seems so ridiculous to me cause I am going to go back home and put on my regular tires immediately anyways. Such a pain the rear.

only in some states, Utah is one that has a very liberal emissions but they get you on safety.

They said they stick out too much. I guess my 15X10 wheels must really put them out there, but I sure don't think so. Had them sticking out just as far last year but they passed it without even so much as mentioning it. I don't get it.

They are getting pickier about the tires sticking out past the fender flares. They pointed that out to me last year and recommended I have it fixed by next year's inspection. I laughed at them.

They are getting pickier about everything! Last year they said my e-brake wasn't engaging soon enough, apprently it has to be to full brake at half stroke. Mine didn't make it until near the end of the stroke. Failed me for it, I thought "you got to be kidding me"? The thing that should matter is that it works, not how it works (I would think).

Also, it doesn't matter what day or what time you go in they are programmed to say, "UHP was just here yesterday and their makin' it really tight on us now".
