need advice on D44

I found 2 dana 44's on xj's. One has 253,931 miles and no tow hitch. The other has 141,784 miles with a tow hitch. Without knowing anything else about the xj's, which do you guys see as the better one or what else should I look for? Thanks!

If they are XJ d44's than it won't really matter, everything should be the same.If the XJ's are manual the gears are 3.07's, if they are auto they are 3.55's. Match the one you need to yours, unless you are going to regear than it won't really matter.Of course there are always things like brakes and seals that might need to be replaced.

there should'nt be any difference between the two other than the mileage and gear ratios.

Yeah get both of them. I would check for wear and tear and obviously gear ratios as covered above. Good score :clap:

get both, sell which ever you don't want. you find 2, i go to a million junk yards and come up with squat...lucky
