Is this because you did not like last years, or you just don't want to go this year?

seems alot more rule oriented. and you can't make modifications to your rig if you plan on doing the whole series which is a turn off for me.

not to mention sections in class 2 was impossible for some rigs. my xj couldn't physically fit through some cones. geared to the swb ers.

it was fun, but i want to build my new rig over the course of this year, not build it and have to leave it as is until winter.

maybe ill see ya next year.

I did not see anything that said the rig had to stay the same for the series. I mainly only read the rules for class 4 though. I mainly hope to have a lot of fun and learn a few things.

i would have to run class two or pull a locker. I would be quite undergunned in class two with 33's

I'm on team #911 in class 1 for the whole series.

The rules said modifications could be made but had to be approved.

you can modify your rig all you want during the comp. there's probably going to be a tech inspection on every vehicle the day of each event anyhow. if you change something,, inform us ahead of time or ASK if it's legal.

ALL of the gate's are set just like they would be for WEROCK if not wider and farther apart, which is what this series is geared toward's. getting more people involved on a smaller level to compete in the national series event's.

We intentionally left a lot of " open " area's in the rule's for people to explore the option's they have. read WEROCK's rule book or XRRA's rule's,, we're a far cry from how technical some of these series are as far as rule's can go.

also,, don't think because you have smaller tire's or longer/shorter wheelbase that you can't win. the practice session we had last year out of 12 rig's nobody made the obstacle. everyone had 35-37" tire's. that is,, except 1 guy on 33's who made it in the first shot on a short arm.

if you have any question's please ask, we'll be more than happy to answer. posting on RC's website is best however as i don't get here much and probably the only one heading thing's up that does. :wantyou:

read through the forums on RC website. There is about 4 pages of questions on what can and can't be done. Someone asked that exact question. I think it was ok to Trim fendars, How much I don't know.

About the fender trimming....mine has already been through tech and got questioned heavily. The fronts have a stock flare moved up to the crease and trimmed up to the flare. They didn't have much of a problem with that. The rears are folded at the lip at the bottom of the tail light. They weren't to happy about that but passed me because the buttom center of my rear bumper was still about the same location as a stock one. Also that I gave back some of the gained clearance with the folded quaters by having 2" square wrap around from the bumper. They also said since my shackle still hangs down, that it is something to drag on and I haven't really gained much by cutting the quaters (so they say). The bottom of my tech sheet says "no more trimming".

They basically said my rig covered just about every grey area in the rules they figured would arise just not all on one vehicle.

so.... how did everyone do?? we finished 7th of 12 in class 4. rolled out of our first obstacle as we timed-out. blew a front 60 stub shaft thru the hub and needed to be lifted out of our 2nd obstacle, and at least did well on our last obstacle. i didnt get to see anything besides a few of the runs immediately ahead of our team.
Clayton Walters did a pretty spectacular roll/tumble/flip off the top of the obstacle in the class 4 shootout though. just at the top he rolled to his right side onto his roof, flipped backwards and landed on his wheels facing away from the obstacle... points for coolness!!
from what i did see, class 3 looked like the most exciting one with longer more complex courses.. i might go down when they do WERoc just to see something beisdes my own team..
i didnt even get a chance to meet any of you guys but i did see Billy breifly and we camped next to Richard..
cant wait to do it again, June 14th is coming fast kids!!!!!

billyjp2
May 11th, 2008, 09:01
on the first course my T-case slipped out of 4 lo and wouldnt go back in so i timed out. a 3 lb sledge and it was back in 4 lo for the second run. the 2nd course was damn near impossible and i timed out, blew a front shaft and destroyed a tie rod. getting winched out i ripped my driverside front fender off and a tore a few holes in the body. never made it to the 3rd course... it looks like i have some work to do if i plan on making it to the next one.

All of the class 3 courses were set up tight, they definately made them alot harder than last time, I managed to finish in 7th place out of 15 rigs, I am looking forward to the next one now that I know what to expect as far as difficulty goes, was good to see you there Sidriptide

The line were hard for sure. I am a 109" WB and 81 wide. I had some trouble that was because of the size. The rest was just a learning experiance. Dented a oil pan, broke a rear 35 spline yukon shaft. And a good roll off the first run. Can't wait for the next one.
It was nice to finally see your rig in person richard. I was in the black xj buggy next to you

Yup in class 1. He got stuck on his belly and timed out. The vehicle fell off the forklift while being recoverd and rolled onto it's roof.

I would have done good if my rig would stay running. Here are some vids of mine. RIGHT CLICK & SAVE.
