Dad had a rear tire go flat on his fairly basic (CD player and some chrome are the only factory options on it) '01 Ford F-150 reg cab/longbed with a V-6/auto/2wd combo company truck (not his spent on it) and wanted to get a pair of the Wrangler Silentarmors for the back of the truck since it get driven along RR tracks, in sand and mud as well as on pavement since he liked the way those tires worked on my Limited, only in P255/75/R16 to fit this truck instead of the 235/75/R15 I've got. He went to check the truck's GVW and found that it's only good for 5600 lbs, now he estimates the truck's curb weight at about 5000 lbs, this truck has a carrying capacity of only 600 lbs!!! He looked at the GVW of the '06 Chrysler Town and Country Touring he and Mom just bought and that has a GVW of 5700 lbs and according to NHTSA and Motor Trend this van has a curb weight of 4300 lbs, this van will take 1200 lbs of load, twice what that fuggin' F-150 will take and close to what my '98 is capable of in stock form on the facory 215/75/R15 street radials!

He's going by the door plate said.
I just did some quick figuring; myself, Dad, and the work related crap he normally carries in it weigh just over 1000 lbs, when the truck still had the 'glas bed cover on that it would have pushed the weight of the load close to 1300 lbs and the thing bounces and hops like it has nowhere enough spring on the back of it.

now he estimates the truck's curb weight at about 5000 lbs,

He's going by the door plate said.

He is? Why is he estimating then?

The truck's curb weight is only 4,000 pounds.

He only estimated the truck's weight, even then I could be wrong on that one part.

The truck's weight is half the equation, so being correct on that is somewhat critical. For that truck, curb weight = 4,000 pounds.

F-150...1/2 ton truck.

Truck 4K
cargo 1K...half ton. (About)

Looks right.
