roughly 400-450pounds.

A 4.0 long block with harmonic balancer but no ancillaries (water pump, PS pump, alternator, A/C compressor, mounting brackets, fan, intake/exhaust manifolds) attached weighs in at ~350lb. My 4.6 stroker long block with the heavier 12 counterweight crank weighs ~10lb more.
Therefore a 750lb engine stand will work fine.

I've seen listing for an old AMC258, fully dressed, at ~500#, so an AMC242 should be right about that. Still, a 750# stand will work, if it's built to be a 750# stand (viz. not "Made in China." They never have gotten the hang of heat treating steel...)

Go with a half-ton (1000#) or more on the engine crane, just to give you a safety margin.
