What do you think about the idea of bigfoots/bigfeet/sasquatch wandering the wilderness?

This is not a joke, however funny it seems.

Have you ever had and experience? If so, describe it...

Believe.

I've had some pretty strange experiences up in Glacier that cant be explained by bear or human...and the smell was not right...

I think that there had to have been some creature comparable in real life to our mythical Bigfoot (possibly Gigantopithecus, assuming that it existed). The fact that creatures like Bigfoot (e.g. the Yeti and others) are so prevalent in the mythologies of the world makes me think there was must have been a creature to base it upon. I'm undecided on whether a creature like that necessarily exists in the present. I certainly haven't had any firsthand sightings or experiences that would convince me.

I recently discovered sound recordings online that sent a freaking chill up my spine. They sound exactly like noises I have heard deep in the woods. Both in Alberta and BC. I always attributed them to wolves, even though they were weird for a wolf. Now I'm freaked..

Try this one. (http://www.bfro.net/REF/Puyallubigfeet.wav) This is pretty much exactly what I've heard. Keep in mind its very echoey..

Try being in the middle of nowhere on a homestead near Glacier NP, camped out in a 10' tow behind camper.

For several nights, something would come around the camper that stank to high heaven. It only touched the camper a few times, but it wasnt a bear, and def wasnt a human, and it retreated very quickly when my buddy popped a few rounds out the window.

One of the local Blackfoot trappers told us it was most likely Sasquatch, protecting it's territory, and checking us out.

Def a believer.

Got links to recordings?

I always thought the howl was too loud for a wolf, but I didn't know what else it could be. Now I'm too freaked to go outside. My place backs onto an 800 acre park. Its too small for bigfeet, but I'm not going to feel comfortable on the switchbacks in a couple of weeks.

First, form a miltia consisting mainly of us rednecks, hillbillies, and general all around southerners. Give us all ak's and an unlimited supply of beer. Then procede to turn us lose into the canadian wilderness...if bigfoots out there I'm sure we could find him, or at the least have a good time. ;)

The question of Bigfoot is more a paleontological question: not strictly anthropological.
There is a large body of anecdotal accounts of Bigfoot around the world. However, there is no scientific proof of the existence of Bigfoot. Likewise, there is no scientific way to prove they do not exist.
A statistical possibility always exists, no matter how small. The palaeontological evidence of Gigantopithecus has recently been proven well into the Late Pleistocene - something less than 100,000 years. If it is Gigantopithecus, that improves it's statistical possibility for survival into the present, somewhat.

On the other hand - belief doesn't require scientific proof.

There used to be bigfeet up around here, but they got too close to the water and the lake monster ate them.

Of course.
I've seen it at the fair and at a truck pull when I was younger.
They even did a special about it on Superlift Offroad Adventures. The gayish host guy got to drive it.

What's not to believe?

I once dated a gal with rather large feet.

Thankfully, she was less hairy than our wilder friend.

Back in HS my best friend and his gf were snowmobiling and saw something that they thought was an elk, a couple of ridges away. They rode into the trees and up the canyon to get a closer look and when they came to a clearing, the "elk" was moving fast towards them through 3 ft of snow on it's hind legs........definitely not a bear or human, but human-like and tall enough to run full stride through deep snow. My friend blasted out of the canyon to his trailer and headed for town. He found me at the local hangout and pulled me aside to share the event. A few of us loaded up machines and headed back up the canyon for a look. By the time we got to the area where the sighting was, it was getting dark and a storm was setting in.......we were all pretty jumpy at that point and since it was near dark and starting to snow, decided to regroup the next day. We stayed up late talking about it and didn't sleep much that night

Next day we headed back up and the storm had laid down 1' of fresh snow and the wind had drifted most of the sled tracks over.......we rode all over the mtn and didn't see anything. He decided to keep the sighting under wraps because he lacked proof of what was seen.

They were both shaking as they relayed the story, I'd never seen anyone this scared before. To this day, I believe that they saw something that matches the description of Bigfoot.
