ahhhhh.. more noise!

my 97 cherokee has been making a weird noise for a couple of weeks now and its getting really bad. its like a howling noise, and when it gets real bad, makes the steering wheel buzz. it varies with rpm and can even get harmonic (bzzzz.....bzzzzz....bzzzzzz..) any ideas? i have an idea but i want to see if anybody thinks of something new.

could be a wheel bearing the start to grumble howl when they start going

yep front bearings.Mine had bad front bearings when I first got it,the ride home was interesting because of the front vibe.

i'd say front bearings or a u-joint

ive checked both by wiggling the wheels and theres no movement at all.. does that matter? can they still be bad but not loose?

you could have a flat spot on a bearing or something of that nature that is causing the noise and may not be detectable from just wiggling the wheel.

how can i troubleshoot to make sure it is a wheel bearing? before i go and buy a new one. not only that, i cant tell which side its coming from.

I just got home from being towed and I had that noise and it was the chain/gears in the t-case comin apart. It caused the front driveshaft to be entirely ejected from the t-case.
