clunk in front, intermittent steering issues

Suspension gurus-
I've finally ruled out the vibration and death wobble issues (ujoints and alignment, respectively), but now two new issues I think are related.
When I back out of my driveway, sometimes at full lock the front end will kinda scrub like it's in 4Lock. When I move forward it'll clunk and free up and all will be good. Sometimes the steering will kinda jam when I'm first leaving somewhere (goes away after inital 'stick') too.

Today backing out of the drive I went off the curb to wow the kids (they're easy to impress) and I got a big clunk from the front with the wheels straight.

Ball joints? I swear I've checked them 10 times. Track bar? I'm about to put the new RE 1600 so if that's it I'm set.
Thanks in advance...
Ed
