Faulty Temp Gauge?

I've got an Autometer temp gauge that the previous owner installed. I replaced my rear dummy-light sensor with an autometer sensor and hooked everything up. Gauge reads, but it never gets above 150!

Any ideas as to where I should start troubleshooting?

I assume it to be a faulty monitor, could this actually be correct? Something awry with the cooling system?

I'm not sure about that. There is a ground strap less than 3" from the sender, it should be sufficiently grounded.
If that is the problem, some kind of grease with decent conducting properties in the threads should suffice.

This is an Autometer gauge and an Autometer sender. The sender is in the block so grounding shouldn't be an issue. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

You didn't use teflon thread tape on the sender threads, did you? :dunno:
