You planning on being out there all weekend?
If I was just to come for a day or two could that work also? Which days would be best?

Count me in. Ive wanted to get out there before the winter season rolled around. Ill wheel saturday, possibly sunday too.
I was thinking about going there this weekend, because Im going to be in Cle Elum anyways, but I don't want to go out there by myself and have something happen.

Is this an "Officially sponsored NWC Event" or an unofficial event? We talked about this 'round the campfire at NWFest.

It would be safe to say it is an unoffical NWC NAXJA event. But it could turn into one, maybe.

No it`s not going to be an official Naxja event,
camping is going to be in a grass field and the area will be shared with other Jeep Clubs but there is plenty of room .There is also a forest service camp ground across the road.
Probably NO CAMP FIRES ,will have to see when we get there. There also might be rooms available in CleElum at the motels if anybody needs one.

Now Now Howard..... :) Things like that just in fact do happen. I've got 3 rigs, and one of them is street ready, but I sure wouldn't take it up the trail. The "vapor jeep" is coming along. Last night Jerry, Karl, and myself were working away at putting the RE 5.5" on it. What little other problems crop up on it after the lift, who knows. And the yota I need to get a new fuel pump on that, also a new webber really. The webber that is on it now is rather cranky. Anyway to get back to the subject, :) I can certainly understand the other gentleman's problems getting a vehicle going!!!!!! Heh heh
How-some-ever I plan on doing the Liberty thing. I guess Karl is planning on going, so there will be a couple of us from the Tri-Cities anyway. As to whether it will be with a jeep or a toyota it's rather an unknown at the moment! :)

very funny... I haven't seen anything around that would have gotten out of that hole without being pulled short of a big tractor/frontloader. :) Lockers will only go so far. Worse thing about the toyotas is that the turning radius is nothing like the jeeps. So you work yourself to death on those sharp switchbacks. On the other hand the toyota runs forever on a tank of gas, and not to forget that it cools way down when it idles........ the 4.0L's don't do that. So bottom line is there's good and bad on all sides of the fence.
But if it makes you feel good Karl, I'll find a ditch by a nice level spot so that you can pull me out and make your day!!

Went with hydro assist on a buddy's yota for $106.90. For EVERYTHING. Works great. Drops it in Low-Low and it's one finger wheelin all day.

August 19th, 2006, 18:42
I certainly won't have that in time for Liberty. :) And I really don't need to be putting any more money in yotas as I seem to have no problems putting money into jeeps. :) but yeah, crossover steering and hyd assist would be nice. sigh :(

HAH!!! That's a riot!! :) Actually, what is more liable to happen than that is to just sell all the stuff and go back to that quiet, uneventful life and just sink the bucks into computers. :)
Ain't going to have anything fancy for Liberty. Just trying to get the floats on the yota readjusted for the new engine. The webber was on the old R20, and they were set real low to keep from flooding out on the trails. Also have some wiring that needs to get taken care of too. But it should be ready for Liberty hopefully.

I am, on that honey-do list she left me with. I've got to get that stuff taken care of before I can get my driveway back to I can start tearing the front end on the jeep apart.
But it doesn't matter as I won't be able to make the liberty run. I'll shoot you a PM.

heh! :) Yup, I'm sure you can Howard! :) We'll see, time will tell. And yes, Karl did offer to help on the jeep, he even came over today and offered again. But he sure gave a look to total disapproval then he looked at the Yota! I guess that was because he is jealous cause he doesn't have one. :)

Karl came over yesterday and we had a workfest on the white jeep. And the help was appreciated. :)
So it looks like I'll be running that up to Liberty on Friday. I don't know how long I'll stay though, will just play it by ear and see how things go. The extended forecast is looking promising. :)

So having never been there, where is the campground at that you will be staying at Howard??? Are multiple vehicles and tents allowed per campsite? How much are the fees? Any stickers or parking permits required? Is there running water at the campsite?

Heh Howard, what trails are you planning on running? Just curious as we did some wheeling up there a couple times this summer. It would be fun to go up again but I think we are rafting on the Tieton this weekend. I'm not answering for Howard but we camped at Lion's Rock and there's only a stock water tank there. It's fed through a poly pipe connected to a spring. We drank the water (out of the pipe, not the trough!) with no issues but I'm not recommending it. There's only a couple sites at that campground officially but we counted three when we used it. There's also an almost unlimited amount of dispersed campsites off every road you drive in the area.
