Yes, I've searched this topic...

so... I'm thinking about building myself some long arms. I'd like to get as much info as I possibly can on this before I try to actually do it. SO! Lets see what you guys have done with yours. the more pics and specs the better!

try searching again, this topic is covered about elenty billion times a week. There are MANY people here that have built there own. search for HellBilly04s post, he just finished his up a little while back.

Just curious why you want to build your own?

I like being able to build my own stuff, and having it work well.

Materials are expensive and screwing up can be costly...

that's why I want all the info I can find before I jump into it.

Ask Alfred (alfredsxj) I believe he's the guy to talk to..

Here's his build

ok, so why did you send me a link (that I've already seen BTW) of some long arms that everybody will call me a dumbass for building? I'm not dumb enough to weld them to the cross member, or only have one tab to held the uppers on... how about a link with a GOOD setup?

It was a joke... ease up just a bit :kissyou:

Help us help you.... what are you wanting.. radius style, 3-link, full length uppers/lowers? How much lift are you planning on? what axle? are you going to build a cross member also or just links? info, info, info...

here's some setups:

http://www.rockkrawler.com/

look at how they've done things... look at others.. take what you like and try to bulid it..

I really like the look of the TNT Y-link setup. the clayton's are similar, but I know I like round tubing better... mostly the looks of it. I'd like to end up at around 4.5-5" on 35's... (yeah, I know I'll have to whack the fenders a lot...) is there an "average" length for the lower arms that I should set as a ballpark and have adjustable ends?

Clayton Is an awsome dude, he'll just chat with you about his products and such. Very cool and knowledgeable guy. His stuff is nice and beefy and is guarenteed you brake it he'll ship you a new one.

TnT also has beefy and very nice products. but i do have problems with their shipping and customer service. (you can search for TnT post on here, im sure youll see one of my rants about them) but overall great products and work very well.

2"x .25 with the RE threaded spuds.1.25" thread. SF assemblies for LCA's. Use a a joint of choice at axle. OEM and Rubber, SR, or SF. You'll have to concentrate on the mounts off the arms, if Radius if want you want.

by concentrate you mean do some math? or fab up the lowers, and work from there?

Here is a set I did about 6-7 years ago.

Some people may criticize them but they worked well for me and I did a ton of trails all over Colorado and Moab with them. I only changed when I went to a D44 front.

I like the way you did it. quality, yet on a budget! would you mind clearing up for me which joints/bushings you used where? Thanks.

The rubber bushings are the stock ones. They run $6 at Autozone. The RE Super Joints ran me about $35 each at SpiderTrax, and mount at the frame end. The heim joints were bought at WWGraingers. No fancy brand.

I was going to build my own also. Did the math and it was cheaper for my just to buy a kit. Im friends with some people who work for Rock Krawler so i went with their kit. Its a nice setup, It also has solid alloy arms, The best long arm kits iv seen are TNT, Clayton and Rock Krawler. Thats what i would get, Its worth the extra money.

search for alfredxjs..they are amazing.
