The annual unnoficial run: Jan 26 through 28. I just made the reservations for the snorehouse so if you are interested in crashing there it's $5 per person per night and byoep (bring your own ear plugs ;) )

Just mark off those dates...Calico is always a good time.
Calico Ghost town is a little north of Barstow on I-15.
The town itself...

Oops... I didn't even think abotu that I was thinking that the question was about logistics :D That's what I get for spending too much time at work today.
Yup, Calico in winter time is a blast. Every year we're out there we wheel all day Sat, part of the day Sun and have a big campfire @ the bunkhouse Fri and Sat night. Bunkhouse can sleep quite a few people and the minimum is 12 (@ $5 a person) so mark the date and make sure your rig is trail worthy :D

if you promise to bring with you a set of spare control arms for yourself (doesn't matter what you're going to be running.. just bring spares!) :D Oh yeah.. and no box wine allowed ;)

Control arms are overrated.
And if it were boxed it would've been easier.... Aparently you don't remember the incident of the stuck cork ;)

Aaron, you should know, rear axles break all by themselves. Now on the front, it's common knowledge that with longarms, you can run 40's or bigger on a D-30. Lastly, I "DONT" want to be behind you because I've seen your welds. :D

When I get back I'll have to count how many are set for the bunkhouse already. At this point I'm looking for 5 bunks myself (I'm getting fatter and fatter during my vacation :D )

That should only mean you will need to bring extra pillows, not need extra bunks. You may however, end up needing a second bunk to form a "T" to fit all the pillows, though.

Jan 26th, 2007 is a Friday. Is the plan on running anything on Friday? Or is it just the day to arrive if one is camping at Calico?

Is the normal way these deals are done....ARRIVE Friday evening, wheel Saturday, BBQ or campfire Saturday night and then head home Sunday morning? I'm going to Johnson Valley in November and was thinking the main event was Sunday, but this sounds like Saturday and so does the conversation for November. Could someone set me straight?

You got it! Except on Sundays, some folks try to get some more wheeling in before heading home.
Saturday is usually the "big day".

Yes, the activities on Sunday are directly related to how many parts we've broken on Saturday and the amount of alcohol we consumed on Saturday night ;)

I have been to the RV park at Calico but I don't know where the bunk house is. Since I will bring our motorhome what is the situation logistically? I don't care about hookups, just a flat place to park the M/H and Jeep trailer.

It is literally right next to the CValico ghost town. You can't miss it. You can totally bring your M/H camper.

The bunkhouse is located to the right of the entrance road into Calico. Your cheapest bet would be to get an overflow spot (the camping area to the left of the entrance)

What trails do you do there? Which trail, which day? I'm thinking of showing on Sat. morning. Which trail for that day?

Trails will vary on trail conditions and attendance. I can promise that there will be lower doran entrance Carnage on Sat. Otherwise then that, there will be something for stock, nearly stock and built.

More info:
1. We will have a BBQ Sat night (not sure what yet or how much $)
2. I think there are still spots at the bunkhouse (I will get a quick count done in a day or two and confirm with the other people who reserved).
3. Trails? Something for everyone: easy, medium, hard (not much but the hard part will be pretty hard).
4. Friday night I recommend the ghost tour @ the ghost town (info I believe is located on their webpage: www.calicotown.com)

$75 per night. But divided by three people, it's not too bad.
Plus it includes free breakfast at Peggy Sue's Diner.

It's Artis i think. I had to pull her name from the rear of the skull in Moab but spelling is a little hazy there.
I have never ran Calico before. Im interested and think I could do it. I need to check with wife and child before i obligate my time.
