This vid makes me mad. Any vehicle can have this happen. Throttle cables stick or the new drive by wire system can go hay wire. What made me mad the most is when they googled "Jeep sudden acceleration", when they should of googled "Vehicle sudden acceleration". That would show that this just don't happen to just Jeeps. Hell, the throttle suck on a 99 Buick LeSabre to an old lady here about a year ago and she left the parking lot she was in jumped a grassy median, west bound lane, center median, east lane, grassy median, parking lot, and right into are Advanced Auto Parts front door. So don't tell me that just because this has happened to 2 Jeeps in 2 months that we now need get are panties in twist. People just piss me off. Walter voice "Well he pissed me off!" LOL. Rant over.

Thats stupid, you can just shove your vehicle in neutral if it starts to accelerate to quickly. For gods sake these people need to retake drivers ed,its one of the first things I remember learning.

Oh and where was the male reporter in the story? 3 women reporters, I have never seen that before.

"the department of transportation has found no vehicle related reason for this to happen but this explanation is not good enough for car wash owner... blah blah blah"

XXXXing idiots, think they're special/have "news" because they found a bunch of yuppies and old people buying Commanders and Grand Cherokees.

You have to love this one from the NTHSA site.
Make: LEXUS Model: ES350 Year: 2008 NHTSA Action Number: EA07010 Summary: THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH THE THROTTLE PEDAL IF PROPERLY SECURED USING THE RETAINING HOOKS PROVIDED BY TOYOTA. HOWEVER, IF THE ALL WEATHER MAT IS UNSECURED AND MOVES FORWARD FROM ITS INTENDED POSITION IT CAN ENTRAP THE THROTTLE PEDAL AT THE FULLY OPEN POSITION AFTER IT HAS BEEN DEPRESSED. THIS CAN HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT ANOTHER MAT (CARPET) IS UNDERNEATH. WHEN THIS OCCURS, SOME OPERATORS REACT BY APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES, DEPLETING THE BRAKING SYSTEM'S (VACUUM BASED) POWER ASSIST. STOPPING THE VEHICLE WITH UNASSISTED BRAKING WHILE THE THROTTLE IS FULLY OPEN REQUIRES SIGNIFICANT PEDAL FORCE, WHICH SOME OPERATORS DID NOT, OR WERE UNABLE TO, APPLY FOR THE REQUIRED DURATION. CONTINUED DRIVING IN THIS CONDITION RESULTS IN OVERHEATED BRAKES, WHICH FURTHER DIMINISHES THE BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS. SOME OPERATORS ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF BY DEPRESSING THE ENGINE CONTROL BUTTON, HOWEVER THEY WERE UNAWARE THE BUTTON HAD TO BE DEPRESSED FOR THREE SECONDS TO STOP THE ENGINE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION;...

Perhaps that's what's happening with those Jeeps in car washes; stuck matts?

They vid with the Toyota Tacoma seemed uncomfortable with the operation of his truck.

I've been so used to diving my Cherokee that getting into the work truck (Chevy Colorado) for the first 10K or so threw me for a loop. The truck does not slow much when I let off the gas, and that has led me to cover the brake more than normal.
It also has ABS, so if I don't want the uncontrolled pedal dance, I slow up early and anticipate icy stops. Every vehicle has it's quirks.
