Hi.

Has anyone removed that ONE-PIECE plastic molding that surrounds the climate controls, radio and cigarette lighter?

I need to access the 12-volt source to the cigarette lighter and I'm hoping this is enough removal to get to it.

Do I put a screwdriver behind the uppermost section and pop it off? I don't want to break anything.

Its a 98 4.0 4X4 auto.

Please help. Thanks.

no screwdriver needed... i take out the two center vents on top and then pull from side to side as the whole center trim piece will come off... pull firmly and then you should have access to everything underneath

they way i take it off is to pull it from the bottom corners (1 each side of the centre console) and just pull it from there, then the whole panel will unclip with the vents still in position.

just another way to do it i guess...

I just popped it off in 2 seconds at my lunch break. EXCELLENT TIP! Great method!

Now I can also replace my horrid stock radio pretty easily too, it seems.

THANKS A BUNCH!
