mixing and matching parts

I am just wondering, does anyone know if there is a diffrence between automakers concerning 3/4 and one ton axles?
For example Dodge one tons and GM 14bolts and Ford one tons.

I have found some similarities with splines, shaft diameters, bolt patterns.

Does anyone know anything difinitive?

looks like I will know today. I am going to grab one from each.

why?...... never know when you may need. besides now that I built my 14b rear, I am building 4 more for friends who like how mine fits so parts at the yards I use are getting scarce
