It's official, our elected have approved the measure to send the US Citizens deeper into debt, to the tune of 150 Billion dollars.
As I understand it, the goal is to put some 100 Billion dollars in "free" cash into the hands of lower/middle class comsumers, gambling on the fact that they will in turn, buy stuff. Another 50 billion in business tax breaks/incentives.
Not a Huckabee fan, but I agree with his point at the debate......."Let's borrow some more money, likely from China, to spend on stuff that will likely be manufactured in China......who's economy is this really helping?"
As I read it, I'll be getting $600 for myself, plus $600 for my wife with full-time mom status, and $300 each for the 2 youngsters.
$1800 that will do little, if nothing to stimulate the economy.
I would have rather seen the folks in Washington give the whole 150 billion to US companies that produce products in the US.
Or freezing the flow of money to alien invaders. Or lifting environmental sanctions on oil extraction from our own resources. Or killing off some pork http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2007
that has gotten us into this mess.
Anyone else feel like this is a bribe from Washington to the US Citizens to incent us to keep looking the other way? All the while they keep spending money that our grandchildren's children won't be able to pay back, further decreasing the stability of our country and slowly allowing the economic control of the USA by foreign dictators that have been more than willing to extend the US more credit?
I'm not an economist, but I am a thinker and our current situation appears a lot like QuickLoan "services".
One has to wonder, what is the US government using as collateral............our Freedom?
Forget Meximericanada, think PRC.

The part that kills me is that they are giving $300 to people who dont pay taxes...
So, I'm getting $600 of my own money back - thanks - but then you're gonna give $300 more of it to someone else to spend? Who, most likely, will buy crack with it....
I agree...lets spend the money on US stuff - or how about making "Big Oil" build some new friggin refineries...drill some wells...and quit buying shit from China.

I agree with the above. If only the money that was given out was mandated so that it had to be spent on US made/produced products.
I'm willing to bet when the money comes around 85% (if not more) of it will end up back overseas not helping anything. Granted it does allow me to spend money on something I want/need (like Jeff who's getting a new frig), but isn't that frig going to be coming from China or Taiwan? (Not picking on you Jeff, just an example)
I'm going to do my hardest (like I mostly always do) to buy American even if it costs a few dollars more. I do understand that sometimes it isn't possible, and others only some of the money flow staying on American soil, but every penny helps.

Stimulating me right into a BM...
LMFAO! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/happy/happy0188.gif (http://www.emailblacklistcheck.com) I'm not sure why...but that just made me about BM unexpectedly in my pants!!!
So, anyways...I'm still not sure that this is "free" money. I'm pretty sure when they did this crap back in 2001, it was kind of like a "loan" on your current year taxes. Basically, if your tax refund for 2001 was going to be $1,000...you only got $700 because they had to make up for what they already "loaned" you for free.
So it's kind of like them giving us a "free loan" on the money we are already giving to them as a "free loan" (i.e. anybody who gets a tax refund year end got f-d by the IRS throughout the year because you gave them a free loan on that money).
But I'm not 100% sure this time. I haven't been able to find the super fine print it will be said in. They will make sure that's not known by the average American. And yeah, I'm so thrilled they reduced it from $800 to $600 for TAXPAYERS so they can give people who pay $0 taxes $300. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/mad/mad0034.gif (http://www.emailblacklistcheck.com)
Oh yeah....this is another reason to pull for the FAIR TAX. This BS wouldn't happen if we had a tax system that encouraged business and savings and hard work rather than drive 13 trillion dollars offshore (the current estimated total). Hmmmm....$150 billion or $13 TRILLION???

Why should only people that earn less than 150K get it. Arn't the well to do more likly to spend or invest the money? Poor people will pay credit card debt so they can charge more. They will waste it on beer, resturants and hollywood entertainment. They will buy more China crap from Walmart. Rich folks will buy up houses and land helping the banks and our economy. So why give 1000 bucks to loosers that will squander it when they can give 10K each to the rich folks that will spend it and invest it wisly. It really sucks that the goverment is suporting underachivers. It will only strenghthen Hidabeast mindset to take from the rich and give to the poor. F the poor. If they wanted more money then they would have edjucated themselfs and worked their way up the american ladder. They chose not too. They chose to gamble on real estate. They chose to run up debt. They chose to party instead of work. They chose fancy cloths and big screens. I say let the economy smack those fools back to the stone age and let the folks rising up in the country have an example. It would do more to motivate Americans than a handout.

The devil is in the details, which I haven't read yet...but I'm wondering if this "free" money isn't going to be counted at "other income" come next year's taxes......

The top 1% of wage earners contribute 39% of the total income tax paid in the U.S.
The top 5% of wage earners contribute 59.9% of the total income tax paid in the U.S.
The bottom 50% of wage earners contribute only 3% of the total income tax paid in the U.S.
The top 6% already bear the brunt of funding the government coffers, which already support more than their fair share of tax-revenue funded soclialist programs for the deadbeats of the country.
I'd gladly pay......say,a 10% flat income tax, compared to the 39% that I'm currently paying.......which would work out just fine, it every person knocking down $100K+ and those making $3,000+ annually were paying their 10% tax too.
And no, the rebate is not "free" money..........

I should get about $1800 too. I'm heading to the strip club.
Seriously though. Would it totally screw up the system if I used my $1800 to may the taxes I am going to owe? :looney: Are baby kittens going to die if I mess with this time space continuum?

Hey I'm not going to bitch about getting some of my money back from the illegal federal tax system. This is just so one president doesn't end his time in office with going into a recession. And of course the democrats are going to go along with it, they need some justification when they raise our taxes sky hi when Hillary takes office. Her and Pelosi will be having bed-talk, in the Lincoln bedroom, about plastic surgery and how high our taxes will be after her time is up. :shhh:
