Little background first:
Dana 30
3.54 to 4.11 gear change plus new carrier
Old pinion has a +3 one the head.
New pinion has the "match" number and 2.261 on the head. No plus or minus. :helpme:
Master housing dimension for a Dana 30 is 2.250"
Yukon ring and pinion
Not sure what the existing shim pack is (.XXX")
Randy's says just start with .060".
This is not my first gear install, this is around number 10.
All previous installs I've done, as far as pinion depth, have had excellent results using the "run-in" number (+/-) from the pinion head.
Is it safe to assume that the number from the new pinion is the "run-in" number aka +/-11? (2.261 - 2.250)
And would it be positive or negative?
Anyone?
Hope this makes sense, I'm confused and I posted it. :wow:
