I finished building and installing my HP44 and would like to pass this axle stand on to a good home.

One of these days I will have my rig back on the trails/road.

P.S. It would be nice if you hauled off a POS D30 at the same time. ;)

Yucca. I hope to have it on the road in a day or two. Just need to connect the brakes (needs some custom tubing). I still need to make the new rear bumper, install the skids and rear flares. Hopefully Saturday I will cut the rockers and install 2x6 steel. Here is what I started with.

http://www.4x4getaways.net/GrannyGold.jpg

The only thing that I kept was the body and doors. I replaced the windshield, the complete interior, the complete engine wiring and dash, Every piece of the suspension and drivetrain. I did however keep the gas tank. I even swapped the complete front and hood.

I've had a few people BC me about the spec's on the rig so here are the basics.
It is a 4.7L stroker w/Clifford headers, Magnaflo muffler and 2.5" exhaust.
The tranny is a AW-4. The transfer case is an NP-231 w/ my own design SYE.
The rear axle is a XJ D44 converted to 5x5.5" rims with spacer/adapter to more closely match the front full width HP44 with radius arms. They are geared at 4.56 and have a Detroit in the rear and a QuickLoc in the front. The front steering is a flipped tie rod from 1.75"x.3125 DOM using one ton TRE's. The track bar is a converted Ford Bronco unit. The front coils are 6" Skyjacker and the rear leafs are BOR 4.5's that I love. I make a set of dog leg shackles to add a touch of extra lift in the rear and to enhance the flex. The frame rails are shiethed in .25x3.5" angle and there are .25" cold roll skids from the front to the back. It is wired with welding cable front and rear to support a movable winch on both ends.

The rig that this evolved from was a 85 base model with a 4 banger, no power steering, no A/C, no radio, no carpet, and a 4 speed. Needless to say, there is damn little of the original vehicle left.

There is nothing extravagent about this build. It was done on a budget over several years and was made to be functional first.

Oh and to answer the previous question, those are 35" BFG AT-KO's. Damn they look small on there.

While we're talking about community-use tools.. I had two engine stands borrowed by XJ'ers and never seen again. One of which was last spotted at Tom's house but he doesn't remember it. So, if anyone borrowed a stand from me or Tom, I'd like it back..

Thanks.
