Let's see - we just had MLK day. He got a holiday because he'd worked to advance civil rights.
JMB designed some small arms that were (some still are!) used by our military to defend those civil rights. The 1918 BAR was around until, what, 1950 or so? The 1919 series until the later 1950's, the 1911 until 1988 or so (general issue,) and I think the M2 is still being used. Don't forget the Browning Hi-Power (used in a good chunk of Europe, as I recall - both military & police) and quite a few of the FN machine guns (isn't the Minimi based on a lot of Browning principles?)
Day, Hell! If we get one day off for MLK, we should get a week off for JMB. He's done more anyhow (if it weren't for JMB, MLK wouldn't have had a cause to advance. Think about that...)
