Winch bumper mounting

Ok, i am getting ready to build me a winch bumper for the front of my xj. Now i have got a design in my head that i think i am going to go with but have a question on mounting. How does everyone mount there bumper to their mounting brackets? Do you weld the mounting bracket to the bumper or make a bracket that attaches to your mounting brackets and then bolts to the bumper? What would be the easiest to do? If you have any pics that would be great.
