my xj has 3.5 inches of lift, i have a TnT truss and 76 ford full width hp d44 i want to put under it asap but in the future i wish to go higher with the lift, 6.5 or 7.5 so what pinion angle am i looking for to set the truss. also my buddy said he could weld it on for me but i don't know his skills to well, so what kind of welder should be used and at what temp., etc. the truss is 3/8 steel.

While there are some very capable fabricators in the PNW, these questions are better suited in the tech forums. If you're unable to answer these questions yourself, I'd have someone else do it in a heartbeat.

Id say at leat a Miller 175. Set on 6, turn wire speed to 65ish, burn on.

the truss is 3/8 steel.

that would be an EXTREMELY thick truss...are you sure? If its a TNT truss it's 3/16...
