hello all, anyone know a good place to buy a OEM replacement heater core other than the bone yard? online? I ordered one from advanced auto but when it showed up it didnt look like the old one, the two tubes coming out of it are approx. 6 - 8 inches long on the stock one and the replacement one was about 1/2 the total core size and the tubes were approx. 18 inches long. It was only about $35 from advanced and I had them double check the part numbers when it came in, I called the stealership and they wanted $280 for one -

I got a new heater core from the Modine distributor in town for $30. It came with a lifetime warranty.
It is a pain to change the heater core. If you have Air conditioning then you have to have the refrigerant removed, then remove the evaporator. Once that all out of the way THEN you can work on the heater core.
So you will end up buying O rings and a new receiver drier at minumun for the AC system. Then you will have the labor for pulling out your R-12 or R-134 if you converted and then reinstalling it in accordance with local, state and federal laws.
This job might be worth paying a local AC/Radiator shop to do since you are dealing with R-12. I have a minor leak in my AC evaporator but right now it leaking a couple ounces of R-12 a year so the AC shop says it does not have to be replaced. When the day comes that I have to change the AC Evaporator then I'll have the new heater core installed.
The smart money is to change all the AC and Heater components that are marginal at one time.

Yea, the dealer is stiff, but I bet it fits correctly....
Wasn't there a recall on them, might have been on the ZJ's, not sure.
