Did a search and there is info out there on lock replacement but i was wondering if anyone had ever bought a new set, and where did you get them from?
I have a set of doors from an 88, but no key and I'm not sure how good the mechanism is after the 17 years of use or non use as it may be.
Anybody know if the dealership cut them from the VIN if i can't get replacement tumblers?
Never did this before so an help pointing me in the right or any direction would help.
Thanks

Andy

if u want to keep the same locks, bring the passenger door lock to a locksmith, they'll make a new key.

I just buy new and have them keyed to the key I have, doesn't work with buying a lock for the hatch though.

I bought replacement doors....and ran into the same dilemma. It was really easy, however. I just took the cylinders out of the door. There are a a couple levers that you gently pop off the locking mechanism (kind of tricky to explain...but it's easy). Then you can just slide the cylinders out.....take them to a locksmith...and they can match the cylinders to your existing key. It ran me around $30 for both locks.
