How to modify your inner fender wheels

Hi All,

I have been thinking of compcutting the rear fenders. With some hesitation because I"m unsure of the best way to build the inner fender wheels. I have been researching this and haven't found anything that really jumps out at me.

What did everyone else do? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

cut out sheet metal, build fenders out of sheet metal, weld to chassis, re-enforce with a cage.
