Dove and goose season is almost upon me and I was lookin for a new weapon to take to the field. You have to protect yourself from these vicious little birds...kill them first before they kill you

I don't know there name I've just heard them called street-sweepers. You can find them on www.gunsamerica.com (http://www.gunsamerica.com) under that name. They run about $2500 plus they're not exactly legal unless you have a licence.

i had a kid in a design class that larped every weekend (live action role playing for those unfamiliar) I had no idea people actually did that until i met her. This is why i believe some people should be neutered to prevent reproduction

If memory serves, that would be the Atchisson Assault Rifle (12ga Tommy gun!) - informally known as the "room broom." Loads of fun...

I don't know what manufacturer made the gun in the video but I know Cobray, the South African Striker 12, USAS-12 are a couple of different makes of fully auto shotguns.

I don't recall what the Cobray looks like (I'll have to look that one up,) but to my recall, that one doesn't look at all like the Striker-12 or the USAS-12. Granted, I may be wrong...

It's probably not an original Atchisson - might be a knockoff, or a pre-86 Dealer Sample, but it still would be a lot of fun.

Granted, it's possible (and highly illegal, for some odd reason...) to do that with pretty much any semiauto shotgun - you just have to know which part to pull or file down... It really doesn't take a lot of work. On old pump shotguns, you could just hold down the trigger, and it would fire as fast as you could work the pump back and forth! Not full auto, but the same general operation.

Probably one of the most fun FA firearms I've gotten to play with was a converted 1911A1... THAT was wifty! I had even more fun with that than I did with a Glock 18 or Beretta 93!

I've got no problem with being wrong (it's happened before, it will happen again...) but I do prefer that people can do more than just tell me "you're wrong" - helps me to correct my own information.

Gil - thanks for the link! For all of our edification... I honestly didn't think anyone was still making FA or SF shotguns anymore, what with having to deal with F-Troop and all the licensing and transfer requirements...

Class III trivia - how many fatal shootings have taken place with machine guns registered since NFA '34?
Bonus points - who was involved, and where (generally) did each incident happen?

In all my (sadly limited) CQB training... I would rather carry a trusted 870... (if I didn't have a M90 at my disposal...and I would have to go to school on it before I really trusted it) but only because I know them inside & out.

Any user-cyclic weapon is limited to the user having ability to recycle the action and reload. Very few things are more unpleasant than a hastily-fired solidly locked (bolt, pump, lever, breech) action firearm in a serious caliber. Once one gets "kicked by the mule" they either shy away, or rethink the process with greater respect for it...

As for that auto shotgun... I'd still rather kick a door with an 870 and/or a M4 (or both + a .45 or .357 sidearm)

I honestly don't have a clue but...

I'd bet the number is pretty low...

Less the amount of people killed by dangerous dogs

and for bonus points...

I'd be willing to bet LE was involved as the registered owner

If I recall correctly the gilbert/daewoo usas12 /stryker 12 were only made semi auto, I do know that the usas 12 uses similar fire control parts as the ar15, and can be made to run select fire. h&k have also made a semi auto 12 gauge, you have seen it in fire below i belive with segal. Lets not all forget the franchi spas 12 or 15, which the 15 can also be made to run select fire. And as far as having to cycle the action myself, bah humbug, My benellis can do it much faster and more reliabley. 870s are good for rusty old closet or boat guns!

DING! DING! DING! Every time a coconut!

The answer to your question is one and only one - it involved a Florida cop as the shooter. Here's the kicker - the cop was on duty, and it was actually ruled a "clean shoot" (the reports have been published/reproduced within the Class III/Title 2 community, and are readily available with a little work.)

I believe the machinegun in question was a MAC-10.

Rem 870 or Moss 500/590 series, with #4 3-inch buckshot and a FULL BUTTSTOCK. Slap them around hard - they both thrive on abuse!

People who consistently short-stroke shotguns are probably used to short-stroking - it takes a real man to run that pump consistently...

Woody, you and I seem to agree on an awful lot. How about this - shotgun + back scabbard, M4 w/sling (and maybe M203 with some beehive rounds?) and a good solid M1911/1991 or H&K Mk23? Round it all out with an M9 bayo - just because you never know when you need a good edged weapon (and, perhaps, an Emerson CQC7B to back that up. "Two is one, one is none," and you can't find a better hard use folder anywhere. I've tried.)
