Can anyone lend a hand tomorrow 1/13.
My Jeep is dead and I need to get it running again.
I cranked, and am getting nothing.
Just replaced the Rotor/cap and wires.
Someone good at trouble shooting no starts?

I'm no good at anything but I'll try to come by and swear at it with you in the afternoon if you think it'll help.

Hey Brendan,

What time are you planning on working on it?? I'm going to be tied up for the first half of the day, but may be able to spare an hour or two later on in the day.

look up the procedure in a fsm or even a haynes manual I cant remember enough to feel comfy telling you how

Looks like that may be it.
The procedure says there should be 125-275 ohms between A and B.
I can't see and A or B but I am seeing an open between all 3 contacts

11mm socket on a wobble and about 6' of extensions makes it easy.
unbolt the crossmember and let the tranny drop a few inches to make it even easier.

I replaced the CPS and it is still a No Start...
I replaced the Cap, rotor, wires and cps, what's next?
I smell fuel after cranking for a while so that shouldn't be the problem.:anon:

Brendan_91XJ

Yeh I am getting a spark from the coil

GrimmJeeper

ok, do you have spark at the plugs? all the motor really needs to run is fuel and spark... and double checked the firing order?

Auto?

Try running the gear shift through the gears and back up into park.

Maybe the NSS is being finicky.

Maybe the NSS is being finicky. NSS would keep it from cranking, at least thats what mine did till i bypassed it.

Yes it is an auto, Just tried, still nothing.
It cranks and gets to the point where you think it may turn over, then nothing

This might sound stupid, but ground the coil wire, and with the dist. cap off, have someone crank the engine over while you look to see if the rotor goes around.
Over the years I've had two dist. sieze and snap their drives, varnish build up in the housings.

If his snapped, why does he have to get somebody to crank the motor over to verify?

Why can't he just take the cap off and spin the rotor by hand? If it spins freely then I'd say the shaft snapped. :)
