I am trying to ship my 98 XJ 4 door w/8" and 35's from Washington to Connecticut, and I am finding that prices vary greatly from shipper to shipper ($900-$2500).

Has anyone shipped there heavily modded XJ's? Any concerns, obliviously I would leave nothing that could be removed with moderate effort. I hope someone steals the winch!
Any recommended shippers? Paul who did you use for your truck?

If you'd like to leave your Jeep at my apartment for a while, I can make sure the winch gets "stolen" lol. SI9500?

I've got a couple of folks I'd trust from my days as an auction buyer. I can do some calling for you on Monday if you want, Pat.

Thats right Matt you used to have a job!
I would greatly appreciate a trust worthy shippers phone number that understands a lifted XJ is not a 15 passenger van.
Hook a cracker up Matt.
The winch si12000 is designed for racing Sloths, really handy when you want to take you time. Make the anti-action last.

I could put that to good use dragging rolled and flopped WRX STI's out of the woods ;)

Hook a cracker up Matt.Call me monday and remind me to get on it. To be honest most of my experience was on the W. Coast, but I'm sure I could get you taken care of. FWIW, if you go enclosed it'll be thousands of dollars.

Are you using a moving company? I have moved stately a couple times and they will stick it on a car trailer. It was about a grand with united.
Are there special fees for the modified XJ? because of lift/tires etc..

There ARE extra expenses with a lifted vehicle. I think between $500 and $1000 for most shipping companies. I'll check which companies I sent my Chevy through. (I used one in each direction.) I don't remember off the top of my head. One more thing, heading east we were forced to virtually strip the truck. NOTHING extra inside. They even went as far as to check the glove box. Sending west was similar but my inlaws begged them to take it as is with a cab full of stuff that wouldn't fit in the moving truck. I'll be in touch...

I used to haul cars for a living. The bigges mistake you can make is going with a "broker" to do the deed.
Call a few auto transport companies direct.
Honestly 900-1100 sounds pretty good to me. With fuel prices being what it is, its getting costly to ship anything anywhere.
